Blog5. My study programme

I'm currently in my third year of Social Work. This semester, I've been taking courses in Planificación y Gestión Social, Intervención en fenómenos extremos, Normativas Jurídicas, and Sustentabilidad e impacto social. I really liked the Normativas Jurídicas course because I think it provides very useful tools for professional practice and offers a lot of knowledge to deal with some work field situations.

On the other hand, I find it unnecessary to have two courses in the same semester that focus on the environment and climate change. While acknowledging the importance of addressing this issue, I believe too much time is dedicated to it considering our field of intervention. Undoubtedly, one of the changes I would make for this semester is to merge both subjects into one and replace it with a different one.

Still, I am content with this semester. We've had to do written exams, oral evaluations, presentations, discussions, many reports, and essays. I think the diversity of assessment types provides a much more comprehensive education.

I find that the curriculum proposed by my university for Social Work is very comprehensive and projects a professional with a broad education. However, I believe it still falls short in how to implement this in a núcleo's system that works and doesn't make the lack of professional practice apparent.
